Christmas Wine Soup


2 cups white wine
2 cups water
5 egg yolks
2 cinnamon sticks
10 pieces of cloves
½ vanilla stick
4 oz. confectioner’s sugar
rind of 1 lemon
1Tbs flour
raisins for topping

Bring to a boil the water and ¾ of the wine, together with the spices and lemon rind.  Boil for 5 minutes.  Take off the stove, strain and let cool.

In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks, sugar and flour, then add the rest of the wine.  Mix with the cooled wine, and cook on low, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken.

Serve hot, with raisins on top.
