Falk Miksa
Did you know …
…that recently deceased actor Peter Falk had a Hungarian ancestor?  His great-grandfather, Falk Miksa (1828 – 1908) was a well-known journalist and politician who wrote for various newspapers and eventually became editor of the liberal paper Pester Loyd. Miksa was elected a member of the Magyar Tudományos Akadémia (Hungarian Academy of Sciences), and in 1866, he was chosen to teach Hungarian to the Empress Elizabeth (popularly known as Sissi) in recognition for his good services to the Hapsburgs.  It is said that his influence had a lot to do with her good will towards her Hungarian subjects.
