Anyu, tüntetni megyek! - Mom, I'm Going to the Demonstration
World famous writer Claire Kenneth wrote this poem in 1957, on the first anniversary of the October Revolution of 1956, in memory of our youngest heroes.  She immortalized here a 14-year old who off-hand called to his mother in the kitchen, "Mom, I'm going to the demonstration now." See the full story...

A „mi” ötvenhatunk! – ”Our” fifty-six!

The author, cousin of our Editorial Board member Éva Wajda, was in the Hungarian army at the time of the Revolution of 1956.  Here he describes the events of that October as he experienced them in Cegléd barracks. They were neither heroes nor victims. Some 60 years later, he still wonders whether it would have been better had they had the opportunity to become either.

On account of the numerous military expressions, we are publishing this piece in Hungarian only.
